Team London Bridge

OUR MISSION:

To ensure London Bridge excels as a leading place for global commerce and continues to develop as a pioneering local centre for enterprise, culture and entertainment.

HOW WE STARTED

In November 2005, rate-paying organisations based in the London Bridge to Tower Bridge area first voted to create a Business Improvement District (BID) and pay annual contributions towards a fund used for services, projects and events that benefit businesses and employees located in the London Bridge area. In 2010 and again in 2015 businesses voted to continue this model for a further five years based on our Business Plan 2016-21

HOW WE'RE FUNDED

The work of the London Bridge BID is funded by charging a compulsory annual levy on all businesses within the BID area that have a rateable value of £10,000 or more. For the 2018/19 financial year this levy has been set at 1.17% of a property's rateable value. This levy income totals approximately £1.3million per year with an additional £250,000 or so coming from external sources such as Southwark Council, the GLA, TfL and Network Rail (these are usually contributions towards specific capital projects). Importantly, these funds are re-invested directly back in to London Bridge to benefit our business community. More information on the BID levy is available here.

Business-led, fully independent and trading as a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee, Team London Bridge was set up to manage the area and look after this fund. Information about our Board and Executive Team can be found here.

OUR SERVICES:

Take a look at our Activity Summary 2017/18. We operate on a principle of additionality meaning that our projects and services do not replace those already provided by the Council or police. Our activities can be broadly grouped under several service headings:

Responsible Business

Helping businesses with their Corporate Social Responsibility work with our Building Bridges programme as well as enhancing their environmental credentials with initiatives such as community recycling.

Safety and Security

We aim to make the London Bridge area as safe and secure as possible - and the perception of safety is just as important to us as crime statistics. Click here to find out more about our initiatives.

Street Scene

Providing an enhanced street scene through extra cleaning and greening initiatives, public realm upgrades and capital projects (Urban Links), improved signage and planning and development communications

Place Marketing and Promotion

Our Place Marketing Manager works to raise the profile of the area and its businesses, both to visitors, local employees and residents, increasing trade and making the area a more vibrant, desirable place to be. Click here to read about this service.

Creating Connections

We organise over 60 networking and information events for London Bridge-based businesses every year. These range from more formal, structured events to more informal social events.  We also look to join forces with other membership networks in London to offer levy-paying organisations more opportunities to meet other businesses. Click here to view our events calendar.

MEMBERSHIP:

Organisations who are liable to pay the London Bridge BID levy are entitled to become members and vote on company issues at Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings. To download the application form click here.
