In an effort to reduce bicycle theft in London Bridge, Team London Bridge have introduced free BikeRegister sessions
throughout the area, delivered by our funded officer PC Morant. In the year the sessions have been running, we're pleased to report the number of
thefts in the area has fallen by over 50%.
A Success Story
In April
2018 a member of the public reported their bike stolen – a bike that had fortunately been marked by PC Morant a few months earlier. It materialised that the bike had been sold via eBay to an unwitting buyer, who noticed the BikeRegister
mark on delivery and reported it to the police as potentially stolen. The police were able to trace the original owner, return the bike and have opened an ongoing investigation to track down the seller and several others
thought to be linked to the case.
This success story shows just how effective the scheme can be. We hope local cyclists will be inspired to drop in on the next session and continue to reduce the risk of bicycle theft in the area:
