Divine
Chocolate has been short-listed for a Social Enterprise Award that is open to a
public – so they need your help!
The UK Social Enterprise Awards recognise businesses that
give back, enrich communities and make a contribution to society, as well as
those who lead them – the social entrepreneurs who use their business acumen to
make a real difference, tackling social and environmental problems both in
Britain and abroad.
Both Divine Chocolate and Social Enterprise UK are based in London Bridge, a place where more and more businesses are taking significant steps towards their social impact locally and beyond.
The nomination is for Divine's empowering women campaign,
where they celebrated the work done over 20 years with Kuapa Kokoo to
empower women cocoa farmers. They added a motif of a female cocoa farmer on the
front of their best-selling bar, which engaged chocolate lovers all over the UK.
Winning
would help demonstrate that an international company creating delicious
chocolate can also be farmer-owned, with fair and dignified trading relations
at its heart.
