This October, Team London Bridge hosted a group of enthusiastic volunteers from one of our business members, Kantar (based at 6 More London Place), who took on some autumn planting.
Ably led by our gardening team from St Mungo’s Putting Down Roots, Kantar filled tree pits outside Guy’s Cancer Centre with seventy-two lavenders, planted forty cherry laurels next to our green wall on Tooley Street and spent time on the Tabard Gardens estate (along Newcomen Street) providing some general maintenance. Next week another Kantar group will be helping us at our Melior Street allotment and secret alleyway garden, Gibbon's Rent.
Charlotte Durrant, Engagement Officer for Kantar said of the experience: "The team really enjoyed the day, it was something a bit different and certainly made a change from our day-to-day work sat at our desks. It was a great opportunity for us to get involved in supporting the local community whilst also giving us the chance to work together as a team. Although tiring, it was a very rewarding experience and great to see the difference we’ve been able to make in just a few hours of work. Huge thank you to the team for helping us to make this happen!"
Team London Bridge has been building and maintaining public green spaces across the Business Improvement District since 2006, in an effort to deliver a world-class business and visitor destination. We recently won Gold and Best in Category at the London in Bloom Awards; you can find out more about our urban greening work here.
