Placemarks Project: One Year On

When we launched the Placemarks project in June 2017 we genuinely had little idea as to what the communities of London Bridge, Old Bermondsey and Shad Thames would rank as their priority Placemarks. Nor could we accurately predict the most common themes as the project reached out to absolutely anyone who lives in, works in or visits these areas.

We’ve had a really good return of Placemark nominations and comments via our online map hosted by commonplace.

Out of nearly 500 comments around 30% commented on buildings, 25% on open spaces, and 22% on the various parks and gardens.

Potters Fields Park, Hay’s Galleria and the Railway Viaduct and its surrounds were the most popular places where your Placemarks could be found, with the most celebrated features being historical, things that were attractive and improved their surroundings, and what people classed as ‘community assets’.

You can view all comments on the Placemarks map.

You’ve still got time to register your Placemarks and make sure your favourite features in the area get recognised as part of this project. Go to londonbridgeplaces.uk
